ClubGRANTS funding

ClubGRANTS is a community funding scheme that ensures larger registered clubs in NSW contribute to the provision of front-line services in their local communities and provide much needed support to community groups. The scheme was introduced in 1998 by the NSW Government and allows clubs to claim a tax deduction of up to 2.25% on gaming machine revenue over $1 million for monies spent on community support.

There are three funding categories under the ClubGRANTS Scheme and Shellharbour City Council assists to administer Category 1.

  • Category 1 covers expenditure on specific community welfare and social services, community development, community health services and employment assistance activities.
  • Category 2 covers expenditure on other community development and support services (i.e. traditional areas of club expenditure such as support for sport and recreation groups). Applicants for category two funding should liaise directly with individual clubs and discuss details with your local club manager.
  • Category 3 expenditure represents 0.4% of a club’s gaming machine profits over $1 million which is placed in a state wide pool to support large scale sport, health and community infrastructure (no application process).

Participating clubs in the Shellharbour LGA are:

  • Albion Park Bowling & Recreation Club
  • Albion Park RSL Memorial Club
  • Oak Flats Bowling & Recreation Club
  • Shellharbour Workers Club
  • Warilla Bowling & Recreation Club
  • Warilla Sports Club

Shellharbour’s Category 1 Funding Round opens opens early March each year and closes towards the end of April.  All applicants are required to submit their application online.

Community Information Sessions are run annually during late February / early March. Please subscribe to the Shellharbour ClubGRANTS newsletter for notifications or download the flyer. Both can be found in Related Links/Files.
