It's time to celebrate as The Tinkerage turns one!

Shellharbour City Council and Resource Recovery Australia is proud to celebrate the Tinkerage’s first birthday this weekend.

Established to bring the Shellharbour community together to share knowledge, tinker and create, The Tinkerage has become an extremely popular place for residents and visitors alike.

The facility runs regular workshops and drop-in days to teach you how to fix, upcycle and repurpose something so it doesn’t end up in landfill.

Shellharbour Mayor Marianne Saliba said the The Tinkerage had become a much-loved part of the city.

“I’m overjoyed that the Tinkerage has become so popular. It really is about making an environmental impact in a creative way,” Cr Saliba said.

“I know so many people who enjoy going there and learning how to re-purpose many different items and breathe new life into them.”

Tinkerage Coordinator Anita Larkin said she loved that the Tinkerage brought people together so they could share knowledge and unleash their creativity.

“Too often items are thrown away because they are broken. At the Tinkerage we show you how to fix, upcycle and repurpose something to give it a new lease on life,” Ms Larkin said.
