The latest fictional story written by local author, Dell Brand, will be launched at Warilla library next month.
‘The Weif’ is the author’s fourth installment in two years of adult fiction and is based in the early years of settlement in Australia.
The book is a story of servitude and the struggle for freedom, of the law and its cruel inequities, of the harshness of a rugged new land and of a brother and sister’s fragile hold on life during these tumultuous times.
“It is always inspirational to hear directly from the author about the writing process and the content of the book itself,” said Mayor Marianne Saliba.
“Reading fictional stories stimulates the mind and creates worlds beyond the daily routine of life,” Cr Saliba said.
“Our libraries provide equitable access to printed and online books, creative opportunities and social contact events such as this,” she said.
The book launch and author meet will begin at 11am, Thursday 9 February and light refreshments will be provided. Books will be available for purchase and signing. Contact Warilla library to reserve a place at the free event on 4297 2522.
