Shellharbour Celebrates 2018 Seniors Festival

Shellharbour City Council is celebrating NSW Seniors Festival from 3 April to 29 April with an action packed calendar of events and activities.

The event will be officially launched at the Shellharbour Civic Centre Auditorium at 9.30am, followed by a Health and Wellbeing Expo until 2.30pm.

Now in its 60th year, the NSW Seniors Festival has something for everyone. With the theme ‘Let’s do more together’, the festival promotes inclusivity and provides an opportunity for seniors to try new things, contribute, and remain active and engaged in their local communities.

Shellharbour City’s event schedule is again loaded with activities including arts and craft displays and activities, film screenings, exclusive movie and swim deals, tai chi, multicultural fiesta and luncheon.

There is also a trivia challenge, fashion parade, dance demonstrations, indoor bowls, travel tips and health and wellbeing expo and information sessions.

Shellharbour Mayor Marianne Saliba said the festival was an exciting time for the community to connect and take advantage of the broad range of activities on offer.

"Health and wellbeing is connected to discovery and participation – and that is what this month's about for us," Cr Saliba said.

“I encourage all senior residents to be part of the experience of this special event. No matter what your age, it is never too late to grow – to learn, to laugh and to be inspired.

“I look forward to meeting as many of you as possible this is your time to shine!”

The NSW Seniors Festival is the largest festival for people over 60 in the Southern Hemisphere, attracting up to 500,000 seniors across the state to events and online.
