Shellharbour Stadium reopens after floor upgrade

Shellharbour Stadium has reopened its doors after a major renovation to the facility’s floors.

The stadium floor was sanded back and re-surfaced, complete with re-marked lines and fresh varnish.

Built in 2000, approximately 1200 people use the stadium each week. This includes more than 40 sporting teams and user groups: basketball (including the Illawarra Hawks); netball; futsal; cricket; AFL; disability groups; charities; schools and fitness groups.

Shellharbour City Council General Manager Carey McIntyre said the upgrades were significant and were part of Council’s asset renewal program.

“This stadium is a vital part of our city’s infrastructure and we are committed to ensuring users have access to the very best quality facilities,” Mr McIntyre said.

“The Shellharbour community have been waiting eagerly to return to our newly re-surfaced courts which look amazing.”

MEDIA OPPORTUNITY: Tuesday 8 August – basketball development clinic will be held from 4pm.
