Social media the focus of upcoming business events

The Shellharbour City Business Network is having another 'double header' this month - an evening presentation and a workshop the following morning. (Note the two events require separate registration).

Shellharbour Mayor Marianne Saliba encouraged business owners to attend the free events and take advantage of the expertise being offered.

“The Shellharbour City Business Network events are an invaluable resource for local business owners,” Cr Saliba said.

"This free network presentation is a great opportunity for business owners to increase their knowledge about social media and how it can benefit your business.”

The first event is the Shellharbour City Business Network meeting which will be 18 October from 5.30pm to 7.30pm in the Emerald Room, Warilla Bowls and Recreation Club. Finger food is provided.

This month’s topic is ‘Reaching Your Audience More Effectively’, presented by social media specialist Melinda Shobrook. Ms Shobrook works with businesses, individuals, and not-for-profits to help establish and maintain a dynamic social media presence, particularly on Facebook and Instagram.

She will explain how to organically grow online business profiles to save on advertising spend and how to build an engaged audience. This presentation will be an introduction to the free workshop the following morning.

The second event is the Shellharbour City Business Network development workshop, which will be held the following day, 19 October from 9.30am to 12.30pm in the Emerald Room, Warilla Bowls and Recreation Club. Morning tea is provided.

This month's topic is ‘Reaching Your Audience More Effectively’, facilitated by Ms Shobrook and is an extension the previous evening’s presentation.

This three hour workshop will teach how to maximise impact on Facebook. Topics include:

  • The Power of 'Scarcity'
  • Telling Your Story Well
