David Jesson was appointed as the Administrator of Shellharbour City Council in July 2008. His appointment followed a decision by the Minister for Local Government to dismiss Shellharbour's elected Councillors as a result of a Public Inquiry.

Mr Jesson's role as Administrator will continue until the next scheduled Council election in 2012. He has a long history in local government management and administration with a career dating back to 1969 with the City of Prahran in Victoria. He was also General Manager of Bega Valley Shire Council between 1993 and 2007 (retired).
