Free Bush Tucker and Bush Medicine Plants Walk

Come along and enjoy a guided walk through Blackbutt Forest with Terry Rankmore, author of Bush Medicine Plants of the Illawarra and Murni Dhungang (Dharawal language for 'Animal Food, Plant Food), as he shares his knowledge about local bushtucker and bush medicine plants. Places are limited and bookings are essential. Priority will be given to Shellharbour City Council area residents and children over 5 years are welcome if accompanied by an adult. Celebration of Ability is an opportunity to celebrate the achievements and contributions that people with a disability make to our community. This calendar sets out many of the events that have been planned for Kiama, Shellharbour and Wollongong to mark International Day of People with a Disability 2013.

Shellharbour and Kiama Interagency
The Shellharbour and Kiama Interagency provides a great opportunity for government agencies, community based organisations and interest groups to build relationships and work collaboratively to improve outcomes for the Shellharbour and Kiama communities.
The interagency is held on the second Thursday of every second month from 1pm - 2.30pm. Come and take the '10 minute presenter challenge' to showcase your service or project, pitch a project idea, share your skills or simply get involved in the speed networking group sessions.
This month's meeting will be held on Thursday 12 December at Kiama.

Visit the Butterfly House
Come along and see live butterflies up close at Albion Park Library on Tuesday 14 Jan from 10:30am - 1:30pm and at Oak Flats Library on Wednesday 15 January from 10:30am - 1:30pm. Children can enter the butterfly house for a few minutes, enjoy interacting with butterflies and learn all about butterflies with presenters from Butterfly Skye’s - Butterfly Release and Insect Education. After this, or while waiting to enter the butterfly house, children can colour in their own butterfly artwork to take home and look at books about butterflies. This special school holiday activity is suitable for children of all ages.
Bookings are essential and children must be accompanied by an adult. To book for 14 January call Albion Park Library on 4256 2001 or to book for the 15 January call Oak Flats Library on 4256 3772.
This activity is a celebration of Council’s new ‘Butterflies of the Illawarra brochure, available for free download from our Factsheets page. Councils Environment Officers will be present at this activity with free copies of the brochure to give away.
