To celebrate the 150th anniversary of the proclamation of the Shellharbour Local Government Area on 4 June 1859, Shellharbour City Council presented an Historic Showcase at Centenary Hall at Albion Park.

The exhibition, staged in conjunction with the Tongarra Museum, proved to be a huge drawcard. Many people remarked that the exhibition panels were of such professional quality that there should be a permanent record of the display.
