Summary

Shellharbour City Council is committed to maintaining and improving the condition and safety of our 506 km road network. To help us plan effectively and make the best use of available budgets, we carry out detailed condition assessments every four years. These assessments guide our annual program of road renewal works, ensuring a planned and prioritised approach across the city.

The 2025/26 Pavement Rehabilitation Program will include a range of treatments such as pavement reconstruction, wearing course (surface) replacement, and heavy patching at selected locations.

The roads chosen for this program are showing significant signs of deterioration, including crocodile cracking, longitudinal cracking and potholes. Project locations are identified using findings from the most recent Road Inspection Audit, customer requests, and observations made by Council staff.

Project Outcome: To extend the life of our road network and improve safety and driving conditions for the community.
