2026 Citizen of the Year - Jarrad Borg

Jarrad Borg has transformed the landscape of refereeing in our region as president of the South Coast Group 7 Referees Association, where the Shellharbour City Council area represents the biggest area they serve. Under his leadership, the Referees Association has grown from 80 members in 2022 to 175 in 2025, now ranking as the fourth largest in Australia. His commitment to developing junior referees, securing major sponsorships, and creating strong pathways has set a new benchmark for excellence. In 2025, Jarrad became the youngest life member in the Association’s 100-year history and received the prestigious NSWRLRA Denis Braybrook Award for his outstanding contribution to refereeing and culture.
