Aircraft Working Party

The Aircraft Working Party meets regularly to discuss operational matters about the airport. The working party has two community representatives, who put forward the views of the community.

Development

Development activity in and around the airport must comply with height, lighting and noise standards. Council must be informed of all planning and construction activities for assessment including permanent and non-permanent structures and events.

Application for approval to carry out controlled activity.

Permanent structures and events must follow our development application process.

Temporary items including cranes and drills need to be assessed by Council and may incur fees and charges.

Filming

If you wish to film at the airport you must lodge an Application to Film to be assessed by our staff.

If approved, fees and conditions apply.

Aircraft landing and parking

Aircraft parking is limited. Call 0421 044 153 in advance to arrange. Aircraft landing and parking fees are charged in accordance with our schedule of fees & charges.

We are currently compiling expressions of interest for hangarage at the airport for future businesses and development of the airport hangar precinct.

If you are interested in being on the register, please complete a hangar expression of interest form and return to airport@shellharbour.nsw.gov.au.

Fly Neighbourly Practices

Shellharbour City Council and the Airport Operators have agreed to fly neighbourly practices which state that:

  • Pilots use runway 08 (to the east) only when operationally necessary (due to wind direction).
  • Helicopters are not allowed to overfly the residential area to the east of the airport at an altitude less than 1000ft (300m).
  • Pilots to avoid flight over Haywards Bay when taking off and landing on runway 16/34.
  • Air Ambulance helicopter pilot familiarisation training is restricted to practice approach and departures.
  • Night training restricted to north/south runway with runway 34 preferred.
  • Night circuit training to cease at 10pm local time. Further information for pilots is available on the AirServices Australia website.

Available for day and night landing in accordance with Fly Neighbourly Practices

Secondary Runway – 08/26

  • East/West facing runway

There are no nighttime operations on runway 08/26
