Mayor and Councillors

Mayor

Chris Homer (Mayor)

It is an honour to represent the residents of Shellharbour as the new Mayor. I will bring a fresh wave of leadership to this role, fostering a culture that is non-partisan, inclusive and equitable to all Wards in the Shellharbour Local Government Area. Born and raised in Shellharbour, I attended Shellharbour Primary School and then Warilla High School, the first school in Australia to introduce surfing as a sport. As a competitive and free surfer, I have gained an appreciation for our local coastline and natural environment, leading to my involvement in the successful ‘Save Killalea’ environmental campaign. I am ...

I commenced my first career as a nurse, and put myself through university. After graduating, I began my career as a community youth support worker, neighbourhood centre manager and rape crisis counsellor. After two years as a hospital social worker in the Head and Spinal Injuries Unit at Royal North Shore Hospital, I worked in the building industry, rising to state operations manager of one of Australia's largest building companies. I moved to Canberra and completed a BA (Majoring in Psychology) whilst working at Defence Housing Authority (DHA) as the national sales and marketing manager. I then accompanied my husband on a three-year ...

Ward B

Cr John Davey - Ward B

My goal for Shellharbour City is to see it recognised as a vibrant community where residents and visitors are attracted to our coastal lifestyle and unique assets. I nominated to become a Councillor so that I could work with a team of like-minded colleagues and Council staff as we continue to shape our vision for the future. This vision finds the balance between recreation and the ecological safeguards, including a dedicated dredging program around jetties, storm water outlets and areas of high sedimentation deposits. I have been involved in several Council committees including the Lake Illawarra Estuarine Committee, Flood Plain Risk ...

Ward C

Cr Lou Stefanovski - Ward C

Shellharbour is my home. Having immigrated to the Illawarra as a young boy, I have grown up here. I have worked locally at Port Kembla Steel Works (BlueScope Steel) for over four decades and continue to do so. I was fortunate to have built our family home with my wife Rosa in Shellharbour in 1982. We have seen Shellharbour prosper from a small regional village to the city it is today. We were blessed to have raised our two sons in this home and now we cherish looking after our grandchildren here. Community is a big part of my life. I am the current President of the Macedonian Orthodox Community of Wollongong and Shellharbour City. I have ...

With an envious lifestyle, strong population growth and exquisite natural beauty, Shellharbour City residents have many genuine reasons for optimism, I share this view. Cr Jacqui Graf - Ward D

I have been a resident of the Shellharbour area for nearly 20 years, residing in Flinders and more recently, Shell Cove. Having raised my two children in this community that has seen significant growth and change during this period, I have a long-held interest in how our city evolves and am committed to retaining and enhancing its liveability. Acting as a conduit between Council and the Ward D community, I’m dedicated to representing and advocating for the community’s best interests, alongside supporting Council in delivering its vision of a vibrant, sustainable, well-planned, economically strong and inclusive city in order that it may ...
