Changes to retail trading hours
Shellharbour City Council would like to share with our community further changes made by the NSW Government to the planning system in response to CoVID-19.These changes are effective immediately and apply to our local government area.
The law now allows for retail premises; such as supermarkets, pharmacies, and corner stores; to operate 24 hours per day. This provides retailers the flexibility to adjust and extend hours of operation to ensure our community has easy access to food, medical supplies and essential household goods while the pandemic continues.
The new also allows for waste disposal from retail premises at any time.
A supermarket may now be open on Good Friday, Easter Sunday and on Anzac Day in 2020.
How will we notify our Community for development proposals?
Council will continue to notify the Community of development proposals in accordance with the Community Participation Plan. However, we will no longer be able to provide hard copies of proposals at our Administration Centre (76 Cygnet Ave, Shellharbour City Centre). The NSW Government has mandated that this form of notification will now occur online via Council's website.
These measures will be kept in place until the pandemic is over, and reviewed as new issues arise. For further information please contact the planning team on 4221 6111 or on council@shellharbour.nsw.gov.au
