Shellharbour City Council maintains 715 gardening and mowing sites and 39 Sportsfields (81 individual fields) across the city.

Our teams work year-round to keep public spaces safe, presentable and enjoyable for the community.

How do you prioritise mowing?

Our maintenance program aims to service most locations every five weeks, while key sites are serviced every three weeks. Weather conditions, ground saturation and site accessibility can affect these schedules.

Following extended wet weather, some areas may take longer to access safely. During these periods, crews prioritise sites based on safety, usability and available resources.

Why is only part of a field mowed?

If only part of a field has been mowed, it is likely that some areas remain too wet for machinery to operate safely. These areas will be completed once conditions improve.

It's been sunny all week. Why hasn't the grass been mowed?

Even after several days of sunshine, the ground may remain saturated below the surface. Depending on recent rainfall, it can take weeks for conditions to return to normal and allow safe access for mowing equipment.
