Motto: “Take a little, not a lot”
Shell Cove Community Garden is situated on the corner of Civic Avenue and Cove Boulevard and was established in 2019.
There are around 15 locals who tend to the garden each week.
The garden started as just 8 beds and has since grown to over 20, now also including herb walls made of palettes, a mural and archways throughout the space. Bees, dragonflys, ladybugs and butterflies fly throughout the space and the greenhouse is home to some beautiful palms and snake tongues.
Throughout the garden is an abundance of herbs including sweet basil, basil, Vietnamese mint, rosemary and other mint varieties. Plenty of salad greens including silver beet, iceberg lettuce, baby cos hearts, spinach and an assortment of tomato types. Fruit trees line the edges including figs & quandongs.
The group enjoy socialising out of working hours too, often popping down to water the plants or catching up for trivia nights!
The Shell Cove Community Garden meet on Wednesday mornings between 9am – 12pm and Saturday afternoons from 1pm – 4pm where post working-bee they sit for drinks and nibbles.
