Proposed Hotel Development at the Links

Shellharbour City Council is moving forward with plans for a milestone hotel development on Council-owned land beside The Links Golf Course at Shell Cove — just 300 metres from the soon-to-open Shellharbour Hospital. This project is still in its early stages and aims to bring modern accommodation options to the area, supporting tourism, business, and the local community.

At a recent Council meeting, it was decided to seek Expressions of Interest (EOI) from hotel developers for the site at Lot 1 DP 1098888, Golf Drive, Shell Cove. This marks an important step in exploring the potential for a hotel development.

Expressions of Interest (EOI) Now Open

Expressions of Interest (EOI) are now open for experienced hotel developers to partner with Council on this rare opportunity.

As one of the fastest-growing cities on the NSW South Coast, Shellharbour is a gateway to new opportunities for tourism, business and community. With the convenience of a regional airport offering direct flights to Melbourne and Brisbane, along with the Shell Cove Harbour enhancing coastal access, the addition of a new hotel will further strengthen the city’s appeal.

The proposed hotel will expand accommodation options for visitors, create local employment, and attract events, meetings and conferences. Its prime location near the golf course and hospital will cater to holidaymakers, corporate travellers, medical visitors and event guests alike.

The EOI calls for proposals for a hotel on a 6,736 m² site (Lot 1 DP 1098888). Plans should include at least 140 rooms, a restaurant and bar, meeting and event spaces, a wellness and gym area, dedicated parking and the facilities needed to run the hotel. EOI submissions close Tuesday 23 September 2025, with the hotel targeted to open by the end of 2028.

Developers can find the full details and submit their proposals through Council’s Tenderlink portal.
