Petitions to Council
Council welcomes the community’s views on decision-making processes and considers them in a fair and consistent manner. A petition is a formal way for the community to ask Council to look into an issue or take action. To be accepted, it must clearly state the issue, what you're asking Council to do, and must concern matters that Council is authorised to determine. Petitions must be respectful in language and tone. Each petition needs at least four signatures from people living at different addresses and must include each person's full name and address.
You can submit your petition by email, post, in person, or through an online platform. Once accepted, your petition will be shared with the relevant Council team and reported at a Council meeting.
Council encourages petitioners to use Council’s petition template as the preferred method of petitioning Council. Please see petition template to help you prepare your submission. Before submitting, please check the Petitions and Submissions Policy and Petitions Procedure to ensure your petition meets the requirements.
How to submit your petition:
(a) In person: at Council’s Civic Centre
(b) Given to a Councillor
(c) Email: to council@shellharbour.nsw.gov.au
(d) Post: to Council’s Administration Officer: Locked Bag 155, Shellharbour City Centre, NSW 2529
