Join Shellharbour City Council for its annual Australia Day celebrations and Breakfast by the Lake at Reddall Reserve.
The day will kick off with a $4 breakfast (from 7am to 10am) and will feature stalls, free live music, animal farm, face painting and more until 12 noon.
There will also be a citizenship ceremony, presentation of the Shellharbour Citizen and Young Citizen of the Year Awards and the Australia Day ambassador address.
This Year’s Citizen of the Year is volunteer swimming coach Helen McKay, while the Young Citizen of the Year Award is shared by sisters Jasmine and Sienna Kaschubs.
This year’s Shellharbour Australia Day Ambassador is gold medal-winning, world record-holding competitive swimmer, Annabelle Williams OAM.
Ms Williams studied law and international relations at Bond University on the Gold Coast and is the legal counsel for the Australian Olympic Committee.
Shellharbour Mayor Marianne Saliba encouraged everyone in the city to head to the event and join in the celebrations.
“This is always such a popular event on Council’s calendar. It’s a great opportunity to connect with others in our community and have fun with the family,” Cr Saliba said.
“I also congratulate our Citizen of the Year, Helen McKay, and Young Citizen of the Year Award winners Jasmine and Sienna Kaschubs.
“Their contributions to our community are invaluable and I thank them sincerely for their service to our city,” she said.

Kay is a storyteller and her performances are much like being invited to her lounge room. She combines acoustic guitar with a jazz-nuanced folk singing style.

Experimental, tropical-funk quartet Young Monks have announced their long awaited debut album Swamp Creek, to be released independently later this year. The news follows the premiere of their new single Supersonic Melodies on triple j Unearthed.
