Shellharbour City Council has completed the Caldwell Park playground upgrade at Barrack Heights.

The playground is now open and offers a combination of nature play and various equipment.

Development and design of the playground involved community consultation to allow residents opportunity to provide feedback and recommendations.

The new park facilities include swings, slides, spinning dishes, and climbing equipment.

The playground also features a dome-shaped spectra orbit climber and the first of its kind for Shellharbour City. The climber presents three challenging trails to accommodate different age groups.

Shellharbour City Mayor Councillor Marianne Saliba said the new playground was a great space for families and provided a space for recreation and respite during the lockdown.

“The Caldwell Park playground is a wonderful new play facility that people of all ages and abilities can enjoy” Cr Saliba said.

“All of our city’s playgrounds remain open for public use however, it is advised that families from different households remain 1.5m from each other and take more caution than usual. If it is too crowded, come back at another time”, said Cr Saliba.
