Release

The Links Shell Cove golf course will resume member competition golf and use of golf carts this Friday 8 May, following a successful two-week trial of the course being open to members.

Shellharbour Mayor Marianne Saliba said that she was thrilled the local golfing community could get back out on the course for both casual and competitive play.

“A big thank you to all members for your patience and co-operation during this trial period, because of your discipline we can now take a small step forward in getting things back to some degree of normality,” Cr Saliba said.

“We ask that you continue to be diligent and follow instructions and social distancing while at The Links and we will continue to navigate through this time,” she said.

Competitions will be held under the following conditions:

  • Players will collect their own scorecards from the scorecard printer. They will be allowed to mark their own cards and verbally confirm scores with their playing partner.
  • Players will verbally communicate scores to golf operational staff upon completion of play for score entry completing a ‘no contact’ competition system.

Golf carts will be available under the following conditions:

  • One person per cart, one set of clubs per cart (regardless of whether playing partners are members of the same family living in the same household).
  • Own-use carts will also be permitted under the same rules (one person, one set of clubs)
  • Cart touch points (steering wheel, handles, dashboard) will be sanitised before and after each use.
  • Visage GPS will monitor carts to ensure social distancing is being adhered to.
