Release

The Shellharbour Civic Centre will distribute free food hampers to residents who have been financially impacted by Covid-19.

Shellharbour City Council have partnered with Foodbank Australia, Food Fairness Illawarra and NSW Health to distribute the hampers.

The hampers are available to pick up from outside of the Civic Centre (on the Cygnet Avenue side) on:

  • Thursday 12 August from 2pm to 4pm

  • Wednesday 18 August from 10am to 12pm

  • Thursday 19 August from 2pm to 4pm

They will include a variety of pantry goods including packaged and non-perishable foods.

Shellharbour Mayor Marianne Saliba encouraged any resident experiencing financial hardship due to the lockdown and loss of employment to come to pick up a hamper.

“The stay at home orders are challenging all of us in different ways and it's of utmost importance that we stick together as a community,” Cr Saliba said.

“There are plenty of hampers available that I hope can provide a little bit of relief for local families and individuals.

No one should feel like they’re in this alone and I ask anyone who is struggling to please reach out,” she said.
