Release

Get your singing voices ready for the annual Shellharbour Carols by Candlelight on Friday 7 December.

Head on over to Reddall Reserve, Lake Illawarra to sing along with local musicians and performers, grab a bite to eat from the food trucks and check out all the stalls and fun activities.

Festivities kick off at 5.30pm with McDonald’s children’s concert, with a special visit from Ronald McDonald himself! The main show starts at 6.30pm and will end with a spectacular fireworks display at 8.30pm.

Mayor Marianne Saliba said this year’s program once again displayed the region’s depth of talent.

"Our carols event is a highlight in the region’s Christmas calendar, attracting thousands of people to our foreshore each year,” Cr Saliba said.

“It brings exceptional vocalists and performers to the stage to dazzle the crowds and welcome in the festive season,” she said.

“Peterborough School will be selling candles to raise money for their school so be sure to visit their stall and grab a candle to light up your night!

“And remember, if you have pets at home please make sure they are kept safe and secure.”

Performers at this year’s Carols include:

• The Illawarra Junior Vocal Ensemble, which includes 30 students from 17 public schools around the Illawarra. They have performed at The Festival of Choral Music at the Opera House, Southern Stars, Spring into Corrimal, The Kiama Rotary Festival of Choirs and have featured on the Morning Show with Nick Rheinberger.

• Hailing from Wollongong, multi award winning The String Family are all classically trained musicians. This exciting group is touring Australia in a caravan, delighting festival and concert audiences around the country with their fun, uplifting and unique sound.

• The Southern Brothers are a tight-knit male choir group run by Southern Lights Vocal Academy. They recently participated in the Melbourne International Singers Festival and won first place at the Wagga Wagga Eisteddfod.
