The Illawarra Shoalhaven Joint Organisation (ISJO) is pleased to announced the appointment of its a new Executive Officer, Leanne Taylor.

Ms Taylor has a background in social service, executive management and strategic planning. She will begin her new role on 1 April.

ISJO Deputy Chair, Shellharbour Mayor Marianne Saliba, said Ms Taylor’s selection was a unanimous decision, adding that it represented an exciting opportunity to develop long-term strategic thinking for ISJO.

“The Board is looking forward to seeing the organisation grow under Ms Taylor’s stewardship as Chief Executive,” Cr Saliba said.

“Ms Taylor will forge and develop relationships with the state government and the private sector as well. She has a great team to support this work.  

“The three Council General Managers and one Acting General Manager from Shellharbour, Wollongong, Kiama and the Shoalhaven are looking forward to working collaboratively with Ms Taylor. The ISJO has great potential and Ms Taylor has the skills needed to realise those,” Cr Saliba said.

Ms Taylor replaces Lesley Scarlett who has been in the Illawarra Joint Region of Councils, Southern Councils Group and Illawarra Pilot Joint Organisation for many years.

ISJO was formally proclaimed under the Local Government Act mid-last year, though the Illawarra Region of Councils, Southern Councils Group and Illawarra Pilot Joint Organisation have been in operation for more than 20 years.

ISJO is comprised Shellharbour, Wollongong, Kiama and Shoalhaven Councils and its principal functions are to establish strategic priorities for the region, provide regional advocacy and strengthen intergovernmental relations.
