Release

Oak Flats Library is set to officially reopen tomorrow, Wednesday 9 December, following refurbishment works that have breathed fresh new life into the popular space.

Patrons will be welcomed with a new accessible courtyard entry featuring automatic doors and a stunning large-scale mural by artist Sarah McCloskey.

The library now has a new accessible toilet, as well as upgrades to the interior layout to provide better-equipped spaces for activities, programs and technology.

Shellharbour Mayor Marianne Saliba said that the new changes provided a much needed refresh to enhance useability and overall customer experience.

“Council is committed to providing active and welcoming library spaces where everyone in the community can come along to connect, learn and relax,” Cr Saliba said.

“The exciting new improvements were guided by the Libraries & Museum Strategy 2024, which was informed by extensive community consultation and best practice.

“I encourage the community to come and check out the new relaxed atmosphere and say hello to our familiar, friendly library staff,” she said.
