Shellharbour Stingrays Junior Rugby League Club will recognise former Club President and Coach Scott McLaurin’s years of dedication to the Stingrays by hosting an official name unveiling of the Scott McLaurin grandstand.

Located at Flinders Reserve, the grandstand was constructed in July 2020 and funded by the Stingrays Rugby League Club.

The naming of the grandstand will acknowledge the two decades Mr McLaurin dedicated towards the club, as a previous President, Coach and co-founder of the Senior Rugby League Club and inaugural first grade team.

Shellharbour Mayor Marianne Saliba said the proposal to name the grandstand after Scott McLaurin was well supported by council and members of the community.

“The naming is a celebration of Mr McLaurin’s passion towards the Stingrays and willingness to share his knowledge and assist players of all ages,” Cr Saliba said.

"Mr McLaurin has certainly left a special mark on the club and it’s fantastic to see that his work has not gone unnoticed,” she said
