Release

Shellharbour City Council will celebrate the local Aboriginal community at NAIDOC Revisited this March.

As Council have not been able to host a NAIDOC event for the past two years, NAIDOC Revisited will allow opportunity to have the community together again and highlight and celebrate our local Aboriginal culture.

The event will feature a free live concert with performances from Aodhan, Kyarna Rose and Matty Walker, as well as a free sausage sizzle, cultural experience with Gumaraa, Koori games, craft workshops, art exhibitions and more.

Aodhan (Aidan Whitehall) is a seventeen-year-old Dhawaral songwriter from Wollongong.

His 2019 single ‘Butterflies’ has over one million streams and in 2020 he won the Unearthed High Indigenous initiative.

He is known for fusing heartfelt writing with soulful musicality and he is taking the world by storm.

Aodhan’s early single releases caught the attention of Communion Publishing UK, where he has since signed a deal where he joins a roster that includes Bears Den and Catfish and The Bottlemen.

NAIDOC Revisited will be hosted at the Shellharbour Civic Centre on Saturday 12 March from 12pm-3pm.

Shellharbour City Mayor Chris Homer said the event was a wonderful opportunity to be involved in the traditions, culture and talent of the city’s local Aboriginal community.

“I encourage the community to attend our NAIDOC event and look forward to seeing our local Aboriginal artists perform, celebrate and share their culture and skills with Shellharbour,” Mayor Homer said.

There will be free parking available beneath the Civic Centre.
