Shellharbour City Council is calling on the community to make a nomination for the 2022 Australia Day Citizen Awards.

The annual awards recognise those who make a positive difference in the community.

Each year, Council acknowledges those who make outstanding contributions in the community through volunteering or through acts of compassion, generosity or bravery.

The award categories include Citizen of the Year and Young Citizen of the Year for nominees aged under 25.

Shellharbour City Mayor, Councillor Marianne Saliba said the awards were a wonderful way to recognise and honour those who contribute and play a part in the community.

“2021 has been challenging for us all, but the Shellharbour community have continued to support each other through this time. I encourage the community to recognise the efforts of individuals in our area and to nominate someone they know”, Cr Saliba said.

Nominations are open until Friday 3 December 2021.

The awards will be presented on Australia Day, Wednesday 26 January 2022.
