The Mayor of Shellharbour City, Chris Homer, is encouraging the community to stay safe while celebrating the festive season.
“It has been another challenging year. The ongoing presence of COVID-19, increasing financial pressures and extreme weather have presented difficulties for everyone but I am so proud of our community for their resilience,” Mayor Homer said.
“I hope everyone gets an opportunity to enjoy some much-needed peace and relaxation over the next few weeks. I encourage you to spend time with your loved ones, appreciate your blessings and show kindness to those who are less fortunate.
“I want our community to enjoy the beautiful open spaces we have here in Shellharbour City. If you are visiting our beaches and pools, please be safe. Check the conditions, speak to our lifeguards and always swim between the flags.
“And please make sure you have a safe way to get home if you plan to celebrate the season over a few drinks with family and friends.
“I wish everyone a wonderful Christmas and best wishes for the New Year. I look forward to what 2023 will bring,” Mayor Homer said.
Some council services and facilities will be closed or have different operating hours over the holiday period.
