  • Local artist Tegan Georgette’s latest vibrant piece now on display
  • Fifth mural complete, six more murals to come this year

SYDNEY, 1 MARCH 2024

The latest bright addition to The Waterfront, Shell Cove’s mural walk is now complete. Created by local artist Tegan Georgette, the colourful installation is her second for the project. Her pieces join three works by a team from Shellharbour City Council’s Youth Services, Aruma Disability, and local artist ‘The Marker’, which were unveiled last year.

Tegan is known for her bright rainbow-colour portraits featuring confident non-gender specific figures which explore themes of inclusivity and joy.

A further six murals are set to add colour and movement to the neighbourhood by the end of this year.

The mural walk is part of PromenART, a multi-year community art initiative by Frasers Property Australia and Shellharbour City Council launched in September 2023. It’s designed to involve the community in creating and engaging with a range of artworks, from sculpture to photography to performances.

Tegan and The Waterfront team consulted passing community members to create her new piece, allowing their stories and ideas to be woven into the final product. The result is a colourful tapestry of shared experiences and collective identity.

Tina Britton, Community Development Manager, Frasers Property Australia, says the mural walk is designed to provoke conversations and add a new dimension to the already beautiful natural surrounds of The Waterfront, Shell Cove. “We’ve already seen residents and visitors alike stop, admire and chat about the existing works and we expect this latest mural to add to that sense of connection and discovery,” she says. Visit Shell Cove and walk the harbour foreshore to see the series of murals including Tegan’s latest addition.

Keep up-to-date with the murals, and everything else that’s happening via The Waterfront, Shell Cove Facebook page.
