Shellharbour City Libraries

Offering more than just books, libraries in Warilla, Albion Park, Oak Flats, Shellharbour Village, and Shellharbour are calm and air-conditioned retreats, perfect for reading, studying, or unwinding. Upcoming sessions include making bead earrings, rainbow wall hangings, scrabble, Pilates, dot painting sessions, and Yidaki lessons.

Start a reading challenge or a book club with your friends and family. There are also a variety of social clubs to check out including Crafty Knitters, Chess Club, and Games Club.

If creativity stills calls your name, you can also check out Shellharbour Village’s art gallery, The Imaginarium.

Shellharbour City Museum

Explore local history at Shellharbour City Museum with a fascinating look into the region's past through exhibits showcasing the rich cultural heritage of Shellharbour.

Museum Curator Tamara Hynd said visiting the museum allows you to discover the heritage of Shellharbour and learn about the lives of some of the City’s most interesting characters.

“Did you know Ben Turner was a parachute stunt jumper in the 1930s? He was sent to Australia to manufacture parachutes, became a swimsuit manufacturer, and started his own airline. Ben settled at Clover Hill, Macquarie Pass, where he built his Tudor-style manor house,” she said.

“You can discover more intriguing personal histories, view collections of the Dharawal people, trace the history of your home, or even have family fun playing in the dress up cupboard.”

Free family history help is available in the Museum’s Heritage Room on the first and third Mondays of the month from 10am to 12pm. Staff and volunteers will assist you with print, microfilm, and online resources, including free access to Ancestry.com and Find My Past.

The Links Shell Cove

When the weather keeps you off the golf course, the driving range is a great alternative. Practice your swing and improve your game without worrying about the elements. Afterward, treat yourself to a cozy and delicious meal at The Taven at The Links.

Youth Spaces

Explore the city's youth spaces like Blackbutt Youth Centre and Albion Park Community Centre. Both centres offer young people a study area, free printing, snacks, pool, games, basketball, and the opportunity to just chill out and make new friends.

Blackbutt Youth Centre is open on Mondays and Wednesdays from 2pm to 5pm and features a performance space for bands, open mic nights, gigs, trivia nights, and more. While Albion Park Youth Space is open on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 2pm to 5pm.
