Beach Lifeguards
- Supervision of beach customers
- Identification of suitable swimming and surf craft areas
- Recognise and respond to aquatic emergencies
- Cleaning and maintenance
- Education of beach/ocean awareness
In order to become a beach lifeguard, you will need a:
- 'Working with Children Check' clearance in accordance with the 'Child Protection (WWC) Act 2012
- First Aid Certificate
- Pass a Fitness and Skill assessment
- Certificate II in public safety (Aquatic Rescue) - PUA20119
- Current Advanced Resuscitation Techniques
- Current NSW Drivers Licence - Class C
You can obtain a Certificate II in public safety (Aquatic Rescue) - PUA20119 with the following providers:
- Wollongong First Aid (RTO 40833)
- Emergency Medical Services Education and Training (RTO 40833)
- Evolution Training Programs (RTO 40833)
- Surf Life Saving Australia (Australian Lifesaving Academy) (RTO 90896)
- Surf Life Saving NSW (RTO 90394)
Pool Lifeguards
- Supervision of pool customers
- Cleaning and maintenance of the pool and surrounding areas
In order to be a pool lifeguard, you will need a:
- R.L.S.S.A. Pool Lifeguard License or evidence of completing the Pool Lifeguard course with the ability to obtain the R.L.S.S.A Pool Lifeguard license within 1 month of gaining employment
- 'Working with Children Check' clearance in accordance with the 'Child Protection (WWC) Act 2012
- First Aid Certificate
- Pass a Fitness and Skill assessment
