Release

Shellharbour Mayor Marianne Saliba has been re-elected as a Regional/Rural Director on the board of Local Government NSW (LGNSW).

Councillors from across the state elected Cr Saliba at the 2019 LGNSW conference in Liverpool yesterday (Wednesday 16 October 2019).

The announcement came two days after Shellharbour City Council won the prestigious A R Bluett Award, the highest honour in local government in NSW.

Cr Saliba said she was honoured to again be representing Shellharbour City and regional and rural NSW.

“I decided to run for the Director position again because I believe the organisation needs to focus on all of its members, regardless of location, and I aim to make sure they continue to do that,” Cr Saliba said.

“I think my leadership during the past eight years during Shellharbour City’s transformation into a financially sustainable, progressive and award-winning city was one of the reasons for my re-election,” Cr Saliba said.

The appointment places Cr Saliba in an excellent position to ensure Shellharbour City and the rural and regional NSW is well represented.

LGNSW is the peak organisation that represents the interests of NSW general and special purpose councils.

Its aim is to strengthen and protect an effective, democratic system of local government across by supporting and advocating on behalf of member councils and delivering relevant services.
