New signage and boosted surveillance patrols

Shellharbour City Council has installed new permanent regulatory signage at Bass Point Reserve in time for the Easter long weekend.

Shellharbour Mayor Marianne Saliba said the new parking signs were designed to protect the environment by preventing cars from parking in natural areas and damaging vegetation.

“There is also new signage stating the opening and closing times for the reserve, as well as information about prohibited activities,” Cr Saliba said.

“We want to ensure this beautiful area is protected and respected by all users and these proactive measures will go a long way towards that,” she said.

Surveillance patrols by City Regulation Officers will be increased over the long weekend to provide a greater regulatory presence in the area.

City Regulation Officers will liaise with Council’s security company at their first and last patrols of the day to determine whether any potential campers are in the reserve.

The Department of Primary Industries will also be conducting regular patrols.

Twice daily cleaning will be undertaken, primarily at amenities buildings. Staff will also be able to react to contingencies that might arise.
