Release

Hold on to your Santa hat and get ready to jingle through the night with the annual Shellharbour Carols by Candlelight on Friday 9 December.

Jingle all the way to Albion Park Showground for a FREE night of song, dance, circus and delightful surprises! This year’s Carols by Candlelight will be the first to have Auslan interpreters on stage, providing an accessible experience for all to enjoy.

There will be plenty of stalls and fun activities to explore, as well as a range of food trucks and dessert options including Steve’s Woodfire Pizza, Amigos Mexican, Normie’s Ice Cream and more.

Write to Santa at the House of Letters, watch the amazing acrobatic elves as they tumble and flip, be dazzled by angels floating high on unicycles and see the magic of Christmas come to life with street lights that can talk.

There will be a treasure hunt with presents to be discovered, plenty of games, interactive play, wandering musical sounds and a circus drop zone where children young and old can see trapeze, acrobatics juggling, unicycling, spinning plates and learn new tricks from trainers.

Bring your own picnic rug or low chair and come along to the showground to sing along with local musicians and performers to your favourite Christmas tunes.

This year, performances will include recent Australia’s Got Talent Winners – Acromazing, award winning country singer Darren Coggan, UK’s Classical trained singer Emma Price, Oak Flats Choir, The Music Makers and more.

Festivities kick off from 6pm and will be hosted by Kiki Bittovabish – the foreign ambassador of funniness.

Shellharbour City Council Mayor Chris Homer said he was looking forward to bringing in the festive season with an incredible display of local talent.

“Carols is a highlight in the region’s Christmas calendar, and brings a fantastic range of performers to the stage. Each year the event attracts thousands of people, and this year is set to amaze once again offering something a little different that everyone in the family can enjoy,” Mayor Homersaid.

“I’m looking forward to celebrating the festive season together in a new location – at Albion Park Showground,” he said

“We are also proud to offer an inclusive experience this year by hosting Auslan interpreters on stage throughout the night”
