CELEBRATE AND SUPPORT YOUNG CREATIVES FOR YOUTH WEEK

Shellharbour City Council is shining a light on young creatives as part of a variety of activities to celebrate NSW Youth Week.

The celebrations will begin with the Youth Art and Design Exhibition currently on at the Shellharbour Civic Centre until Sunday 28 April, 2024.

The exhibition showcases local artists aged between 12 to 24 years with art ranging from painting, drawing, mixed media, photography, digital media and design.

The annual Civic Centre Market will be held on Saturday 20 April from 10am to 1pm. The market features products from Shellharbour’s young makers and entrepreneurs, as well as live music and workshops.

Shellharbour City Council Mayor Chris Homer said that the Youth Week events provided exciting opportunities for young people to connect and be proud of their local community.

“We are pleased to be showcasing the talents of local young people,” Mayor Homer said.

“I encourage the community to pop-in to the Shellharbour Civic Centre for the Civic Centre Markets and to admire some of the incredible artworks on display over the next month,” he said.

Experience watching the new Wonka movie under the Stars, with a FREE outdoor cinema experience on Friday 19 April. Attendees are invited to come along to the Shellharbour Civic Centre from 5pm to secure a spot and set up a picnic rug or low chairs. Sweet and savoury food and beverage options will be available to purchase. No bookings are required.

Shellharbour Civic’s Centre’s successful Create and Play family-friendly event is back, this time with a magical Wonka theme. The FREE event is on Wednesday 17 April from 11am to 1pm.
