In celebration of National Volunteer Week, Shellharbour City Council said thank you to the region’s dedicated volunteers by hosting a free community movie night at Event Cinemas on Thursday, 22 May.
This annual event was Council’s way of recognising the invaluable contribution of local volunteers who give their time, skills, and energy to support a wide range of services and community groups across the region.
Shellharbour City Mayor Chris Homer said the evening was a small gesture of appreciation for the big difference volunteers make, and aligned with this year’s National Volunteer Week theme ‘Connecting Communities’.
“Volunteers are the heart of our community. Whether they are helping out at local sporting clubs, community centres, libraries, or emergency services, their efforts deserve to be recognised and celebrated,” Mayor Homer said.
“The event was all about coming together as a community to celebrate those who generously give their time for the benefit of others.”
