CELEBRATING SHELLHARBOUR'S COMMUNITY SPIRIT

Shellharbour City Council is calling on the community to submit nominations for the 2025 Shellharbour Community and Australia Day Awards. 

The annual awards celebrate individuals, groups or local businesses who make a positive impact in the community. They aim to honour those who contribute through volunteering, acts of compassion, generosity or bravery.

The 2025 awards will recognise a diverse range of contributions made by people of all ages and backgrounds. Whether it’s through sporting achievements, artistic endeavours, or community-building initiatives, the awards provide a platform to showcase and appreciate the many ways locals enrich the Shellharbour region.
This year’s award categories will include:  

  • Citizen of the Year 
  • Young Citizen of the Year (under 25) 
  • Athlete of the Year
  • Young Athlete of the Year
  • Service to Sports
  • Community Group of the Year
  • Community Capacity Builder
  • Volunteer of the Year
  • Outstanding Contribution to the Arts 
  • Outstanding Contribution to Diversity & Inclusion

Shellharbour City Mayor Chris Homer said the awards offer a valuable opportunity to acknowledge those who help make Shellharbour such a great place to live.
“The incredible stories of dedication and achievement within our community never cease to inspire me,” Mayor Homer said. 

“Nominating someone for these awards is a fantastic way to celebrate the contributions and hard work of individuals and groups in our area.”

Nominations close Sunday 1 December 2024.

To make a nomination, fill out the form on Shellharbour City Council’s website. Simply search ‘2025 Community and Australia Day Awards’.
