Release

Shellharbour City residents are asked to donate gifts and vouchers for this year’s Mayor’s Giving Tree Appeal.

For more than two decades, Shellharbour residents have helped hundreds of disadvantaged families celebrate Christmas.

Shellharbour Mayor Marianne Saliba urged the community to help those less fortunate.

"Some people in our community have found themselves in difficult circumstances and unable to provide gifts for their family this year," Mayor Marianne Saliba said.

“In fact, in almost every school there will be students who will not truly enjoy a happy Christmas unless they receive help from our caring community.

"The assistance we receive each year from residents, clubs and volunteer groups exemplifies the altruistic nature of our city - we look after each other in times of need.”

The St Vincent de Paul Society has previously distributed thousands of donated gifts and vouchers to more than 450 families in need.

Simply leave unwrapped gifts in the box next to the Christmas tree in the Shellharbour Civic Centre foyer.

If you would prefer to donate a gift voucher, please send it to Shellharbour City Council Mayor’s Giving Tree, care of Jo Frasca, Locked Bag 155 Shellharbour City Centre NSW 2529.

Residents are encouraged to donate gifts before Friday, 14 December so volunteers have time to sort, wrap and distribute to families by Christmas.
