Release

Shellharbour City Council is seeking expressions of interest to lease Stage One of the new Shellharbour Airport Aviation Business Park.

The airport is located on Airport Road, Albion Park Rail, just over an hour’s drive south of Sydney NSW and approximately 20 minutes’ drive south of Wollongong.

Its location takes full advantage of links to rail transport and the new Albion Park bypass M1 Motorway.

Shellharbour Airport is the aviation gateway to the Illawarra-Shoalhaven and Southern Highlands and is serviced by Link Airways, providing regular passenger services to Brisbane and Melbourne (Essendon Fields).

Stage One of the Aviation Business Park covers 20,000m2 of cleared land suitable for a range of aviation-related commercial uses including aircraft maintenance, pilot training and charter operations.

This airside land has full services to gas, electricity and water services available and is accessible by road, with direct frontage onto taxiways and two sealed runways.

While Stage One land has not yet been subdivided, potential land size could range from 4250msq to 4750msq of up to five lots on a long-term lease.

All land is zoned SP1 and includes any development that is related to aviation under Council’s Local Environmental Plan.

Stage One is part of 5ha Aviation Business Precinct with additional allotments to be released in Stage Two, opening an additional 30,000msq of land.

Joint NSW State Government and Shellharbour City Council funding of more than $20 million infrastructure investment backed the development, which includes a new passenger terminal and upgraded runways and taxiways.

Council contributed $4.35M to the overall upgrade project, while the NSW State Government’s Growing Local Economies Fund, part of the Regional Growth Fund, provided $15.97M.
