HAVE YOUR SAY ON THE LOCATION OF THE WATERFRONT CENTRE
Shellharbour City Council is seeking feedback from the community on the proposed location of The Waterfront Centre in Shell Cove.
Proposed for 2 Waterfront Promenade, Council would like the community to consider whether the location is still relevant.
The Waterfront Centre aims to replace the small and aging Shellharbour Village Library and Visitor Information Centre as our community continues to grow.
As part of the consultation, Council has suggested two locations as part of its consultation process around the Waterfront Centre with an option for the community to suggest a third site for consideration and investigation.
The locations are:
Location A – 2 Waterfront Promenade, Shell Cove
Location B – Cnr Harbour and Cove Blvd, Shell Cove
Shellharbour City Council Mayor Chris Homer said a lot had changed in Shell Cove and wider the Shellharbour LGA in the past 20 years and Council wanted to understand whether the Waterfront Centre was still relevant for the community.
“We know there has been a lot of commentary in the community about whether the location of the Waterfront Centre is right or whether the community would like it retained as green space,” Mayor Homer said.
“This is the community’s opportunity to tell Council what they would like to see. Does the community prefer to keep all of the green space or does it want to see the library, community centre and Visitor Information Centre there.”
Council staff will be at Location A on Saturday, 19 October from 9am to 12pm and Thursday, 24 October from 9am to 12pm to talk about the project and answer any questions the community may have.
Residents can share their feedback via the online survey, physical copies at our libraries and customer service centre, or by attending one of the community drop-in sessions.
