Media opportunity: The Links Shell Cove winter clothing appeal handover to The Smith Family and St Vincent de Paul

When: 12.45pm, Thursday 11 July, 2019

Where: The Tavern, The Links Shell Cove

Who: Mayor Marianne Saliba, The Links Staff

One in eight adults and one in six children are living in poverty in Australia- just over 3 million people.

This year marks the third year The Links Shell Cove has held its winter clothing appeal which aims to provide assistance and stress relief to individuals and families struggling this winter.

From May to June this year, over 300 items of winter clothing have been donated from across the Shellharbour community. These donations will be handed over to the Smith Family and St Vincent de Paul to distribute to those in need.

Shellharbour Mayor Marianne Saliba said the winter clothing appeal was a simple way for Shellharbour residents to assist members of the community who did not have access to warm clothes this winter.

"The stress on individuals struggling with daily living expenses, particularly during the cold winter months, can be immense. Donating old winter clothes is a great way to relieve some of that pressure," Cr Saliba said.
