Shellharbour City residents are encouraged to get involved in Australia’s festival of pre-loved items during the 2022 Garage Sale Trail. 

The Garage Sale Trail encourages residents to sell, shop and learn about the circular economy.

The event includes free ‘Trail Tutorials’, a series of inspiring and educational online talks about sustainable fashion and renovations featuring Barry Du Bois, Annabel Crabb and Craig Reucassel, alongside experts in fashion, home renovations and the circular economy. 

Then, over two weekends of garage sales hosted simultaneously around the nation, participants can declutter and sell pre-loved goods and snag a guilt-free bargain locally on 12-13 and 19-20 November.

Shellharbour City Mayor Chris Homer said the event was a fun way for residents to connect, make some money and stop good quality items going to landfill or being illegally dumped.

“Keeping things like clothes, appliances and furniture in use for as long as we can, by buying or selling it at a garage sale, makes sense for the planet and makes cents for participants,” Mayor Homer said.

“It’s the circular economy in action and it’s something all Shellharbour residents can get behind.”

“It’s garage sales made easy with supplied tips, resources, advertising and even touch-free PayPal QR code payments, plus you’ll extend the life of items you love, meet the neighbours and make some money”.

“We are excited for the Shellharbour City region to be part of the 10,000 garage sales around the nation,” Mayor Homer said.
