Release

Shellharbour City Council is promoting safe driving behaviour during National Road Safety Week, from Monday 17 May to Sunday 23 May 2021.

National Road Safety Week (NRSW) is an initiative of the Safer Australian Roads and Highways (SARAH) Group that aims to highlight the impact of road trauma and ways to reduce it.

Shellharbour Mayor Marianne Saliba said National Road Safety Week was an important reminder to make safe decisions behind the wheel.

“Raising road safety awareness is vitally important for community safety. Every year, approximately 1200 people are killed and another 44,000 are seriously injured on Australian roads,” Cr Saliba said

“Even just one life is too many. Keep yourself, your loved ones and your community safe by staying alert and making responsible decisions when behind the wheel,” she said.
