Shellharbour City Council will welcome five new high achievers to the honourable Hall of Fame in a ceremony tonight, Thursday 17 June.

The Shellharbour City Hall of Fame was established in 1988 as a way to celebrate and recognise individuals within the Shellharbour City Local Area who have made significant achievements and contributions in their field of endeavour.

Last year, a permanent Hall of Fame exhibition was installed at Shellharbour Civic Centre to showcase recipients and their outstanding achievements across a diverse range of fields including government, community services, business, the arts, science and sport.

The new recipients include inorganic chemistry researcher Harold Goodwin, sprint canoeist David Smith OAM, Baseball player Stuart Thompson and acrobatic gymnasts Maddison Lacey and Caitlin O’Neil.

Shellharbour Mayor Marianne Saliba congratulated the new recipients.

“The Hall of Fame is an opportunity to honour residents who have excelled or attained significant prominence in their chosen area of expertise,” Cr Saliba said.

“It is a fantastic resource for the community and holds incredible stories of local families and individuals that I’m sure will inspire others to strive for their own dreams,” she said.

The Hall of Fame exhibition can be viewed during the Shellharbour Civic Centre opening hours, or alternatively online
