Release

Shellharbour Mayor Councillor Marianne Saliba is extending her thanks and appreciation to the city’s hundreds of volunteers this week, in celebration of National Volunteer Week.

National Volunteer Week, 18 to 24 May, is an annual event acknowledging the generous contribution of our nation’s volunteers. This year’s theme is “Changing Communities. Changing Lives”.

Cr Saliba said that during this uncertain time, she believed it was more important than ever to recognise and acknowledge Shellharbour City’s volunteers.

“Council normally holds a movie event to treat our local volunteers to a well-deserved night out. Sadly, due to restrictions caused by COVID-19, we are unable to do that this year,” Cr Saliba said.

“But we strongly believe that we still need to publicly thank our volunteers who are committed to making a difference in Shellharbour City.

“These volunteers include those who provide much-needed assistance to charity and welfare organisations, as well as emergency services.

“They provide countless hours of service to those who need it most and we are truly blessed to have people who so generously give their time for the betterment of our community.

“Their remarkable efforts continue to increase the strength, resilience and wellbeing of our city. We thank you for your generosity, passion and hard work,” Cr Saliba said.
