Release

Shellharbour City Council invites local community groups and organisations to apply for the 2020 ClubGRANTS community funding scheme.

ClubGRANTS is a state-wide initiative in which local clubs provide significant financial support for projects and services that contribute to the wellbeing of their local communities.

Shellharbour City community groups/organisations can seek financial support through the Category 1 funding program.

This category supports community welfare and social services, community development, employment assistance activities, community health services and projects aimed at improving the living standards of low income and disadvantaged people.

Last year, registered Shellharbour City clubs donated over $230,000 to services and community-based organisations.

This year’s participating clubs are Shellharbour Workers Club, Oak Flats Bowling and Recreation Club, Albion Park RSL, Warilla Bowls and Recreation Club, Warilla Sports Club, and Albion Park Bowling Club.

Shellharbour Mayor Marianne Saliba said that financial support from the City’s larger clubs helped provide services vital to community wellbeing.

“The assistance enables community groups, that would otherwise struggle, to provide their ongoing services and support to our residents,” Cr Saliba said.

“Each year Council is proud to participate in this program and it is fantastic to see local registered clubs contributing so much back into the community,” she said.

A free community information session will be held at 10am on Monday 2 March at the Shellharbour Civic Centre. Register at shellharbourclubgrants2020.eventbrite.com.au.

For more information or to apply visit www.shellharbour.nsw.gov.au/living-here/grants-and-donations. Applications close 5pm Thursday 30 April.
