TAKE A SEAT AND TRIAL SHELLHARBOUR’S NEW PARKLET
Shellharbour City Council is bringing new life to Shellharbour Village with the launch of a new parklet trial, designed to make Addison Street more vibrant, social and welcoming.
Following community feedback from the recent Shellharbour Village Check In, the parklet provides extra space for people to relax, connect, and enjoy the village atmosphere while supporting local businesses and outdoor activity.

What is a parklet?
A parklet is a small outdoor space that extends the footpath by transforming part of the road or a parking space into an inviting area for people to sit, eat, or catch up with friends.
The new parklet in Shellharbour Village is situated at the east end of Addison Street between Santorini By The Sea and All Harbour Thai Restaurant.
The accessible structure features seating, a canopy for shade and weather protection, along with planters for greenery.
Shellharbour Village Parklet Trial
The Shellharbour Village Parklet Trial is part of Council’s efforts to create a people-friendly and active public space in the village and examine how people experience the area as a destination.
“Our community has told us they want Shellharbour Village to be an even more welcoming and vibrant place,” Shellharbour City Mayor Chris Homer said.
“The parklet trial is a creative way to reimagine our streets and create more spaces for people to pause, connect and enjoy everything the village has to offer.”
Through the trial, Council will explore how the parklet can:
- Make the street more social, comfortable and welcoming
- Encourage walking, relaxing and interaction
- Support local businesses and outdoor activity
- Add greenery, shade and amenity to the streetscape
The parklet trial will run for 6-12 months, during which Council will gather community feedback to help shape what happens next with public space improvements.
