Financial Assistance / Donations

Applications are now being called from non-profit organisations for donations for the second allocation of the 2020-2021 financial year. Applications close 16 October 2020.

Each year we provide funding to assist local sporting, cultural, educational, health, welfare and other groups who have a demonstrated community need. This funding is also available to meet requests for ‘in lieu’ or ‘in kind’ contributions.

Applications are open four times per year. Organisations or individuals wishing to be considered for a donation must submit an application form by the upcoming closing dates*:

  • 16 October 2020 (2nd quarter allocation 2020/2021 budget)
  • 5 February 2021 (3rd quarter allocation 2020/2021 budget)
  • 30 April 2021 (4th quarter allocation 2020/2021 budget)

Tip fee reduction

Our fee reduction policy was developed in response to requests from registered charities for ongoing exemptions from tipping fees.  

Community groups, organisations and individuals located in the Shellharbour local government area can apply for assistance with sand, soil, delivery and tipping fees for a single specific project. Applications for fee reduction or exemption are considered twice a year in June and December by Council’s Financial Assistance Working Party. Applications must comply with our Fee Reduction Policy  here

ClubGRANTS

ClubGRANTS is a community funding scheme that ensures larger registered clubs in NSW contribute to services in their local communities and provide support to community groups. We assist in the administration of Category 1 funding. This covers expenditure on specific community welfare and social services, community development, community health services and employment assistance activities.

Participating clubs in the Shellharbour LGA include:

  • Albion Park Bowling & Recreation Club
  • Albion Park RSL Memorial Club
  • Oak Flats Bowling & Recreation Club
  • Shellharbour Workers Club
  • Warilla Bowling & Recreation Club
  • Warilla Sports Club

Funding rounds open annually in March and close towards the end of April. All applicants are required to submit their application online. Information sessions are run annually during late February / early March. 

Due to the Government's mandated closure of all registered clubs across NSW from 23 March 2020 as a result of COVID-19, the Shellharbour local ClubGRANTS Committee is unable to proceed with the 2020 Category 1 funding round.  As a result, the current advertised application process is closed until further notice and no applications will be considered at this time.  During these difficult times, we appreciate your understanding and will advise of future ClubGRANTS Category 1 funding rounds as soon as they are made available.  In the case of the 2020 round re-opening at a later date, any current applications will be considered, however, we have no indication of the possibility of it reopening at this stage.
