Shellharbour Mayor Marianne will hand over several thousand dollars in cash, gift vouchers and dozens of toys and gifts to the St Vincent de Paul Society tomorrow.
The Mayor’s annual St Vincent de Paul Society Christmas Appeal donates thousands of dollars’ worth of gifts and vouchers to the charity each year.
This year the appeal received $1950 in cash, $2000 worth of gift vouchers from the Shellharbour Club, and dozens of toys and gifts.
Additionally, more than $4000 raised by the Mayor’s Fashion Parade, which kicked off this year’s appeal.
Cr Saliba thanked the community for its kindness in providing some Christmas joy to those less fortunate.
“Once again our community proved their generosity in looking after those who will be doing it tough this Christmas,” Cr Saliba said.
“I’d like to sincerely thank all of the individuals, families and businesses for their continued support.
“The St Vincent de Paul Society works tirelessly all year round for our community and the additional work they do during the festive season is very much appreciated.
“The organisation is a much needed advocate for social justice and a significant support when people need it most.
“I would also like say a big thank you to everyone who attended the Mayor’s Fashion Parade last month.
“It was a great night full of fun and fashion and it was lovely to have Alex Popov from the St Vincent de Paul Society Wollongong Diocese and his wife Jennifer there to talk about what the organisation does and how it helps families through difficult times,” Cr Saliba said.
